Prior to the game, our OPWSA group had the privilege to hear Clint Hurdle, Pittsburgh Pirates Manager, give an inspirational talk about being a parent to a child with PWS. Following the talk, Clint signed autographs and took pictures. We cannot say enough great things about Clint. His thoughtfulness, warmth and generosity are second to none. He has kindly given us permission to share his talk with our families.
OPWSA Toronto Blue Jays and Pittsburgh Pirates Event
On Sunday, August 13th, 80 members of our OPWSA community headed to the Rogers Centre for our OPWSA Toronto Blue Jays and Pittsburgh Pirates Event.
The day could not have been more perfect! It was a beautiful summer day, for a ball game with the dome open.
On top of all of this, PWS and our event was featured in the Blue Jays Central pre-game show. An article was also written by Sportsnet's Baseball Columnist, Shi Davidi, about Clint Hurdle and his family, PWS, OPWSA, and our event. Being able to spread PWS awareness was really the icing on the cake to an already wonderful day at the ball game! Read the article.
Thank you to all of the families who joined us for the OPWSA Toronto Blue Jays and Pittsburgh Pirates Event. We'd also like to thank the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Toronto Blue Jays, Sportsnet, Shi Davidi, and an extra special thank you to Clint for meeting with our families and for the awesome Pirates beach towels.
